How has Exscribe’s EHR affected your practice?
We have seen a tremendous increase in reimbursements and we’ve saved $500,000 in dictation costs alone. Exscribe’s built in templates are invaluable — they make our practice more efficient, more compliant and they cut down on so many costs from dictation to chart storage. We have 29 physicians in our practice in 7 offices so the logistics of charts were tricky. Our EHR has helped us logistically and that’s not even addressing the new space we have now that our paper charts are gone.
Most importantly, Exscribe’s EHR doesn’t get in the way of our interaction with patients, which is priority # 1. We are so pleased with Exscribe that if you took it away now, it would hurt our practice.
Why did you choose Exscribe?
First, let me say, our practice wouldn’t be using an EHR unless it was government mandated. We are in the business of taking care of patients, but we decided to get ahead of the curve and to integrate our EHR now. When deciding which product to go with, we did our homework and spent 2 to 3 years vetting out the various products. Our priority was an EMR that wouldn’t take time away from our patients – or our families for that matter. We found that in Exscribe and much more.
One of the most important reasons we chose Exscribe is that it was created by a highly skilled practicing orthopedic surgeon for orthopedic surgeons. Exscribe’s templates are invaluable – they even have sub-specialty templates. No other system has that availability.
How did implementation go?
Our doctors did not want to use an EHR at first. It was like forcing Brussels sprouts on a 1-year old. But once they saw some of us using the system with ease, they jumped on the bandwagon.
Any glitches with the software?
Every system has a glitch. Exscribe has bent over backwards to accommodate us and to customize our system. That’s more than I can say for 99 percent of companies. They made the whole experience of implementing an EHR actually nice for us.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate Exscribe’s EHR?
A nine. If they cooked me dinner and did laundry, then a 10!
