Dr. Ranjan Sachdev, nationally renowned orthopaedic surgeon and public speaker, will travel to Xi’an, China, next week to bring his expertise in stem cell and bone tissue engineering to the Second Annual World Congress of Orthopaedics 2015. The WCORT was designed as a means of bringing together experts and professionals from the orthopaedic field to discuss new ideas and exchange the results of continued research in the most state-of-the-art areas of orthopaedics. Following the success of last year’s event, the theme of this year’s conference is technology, win-win and development, and translation, according to BIT Congress. Dr. Sachdev is CEO of Exscribe Inc, a specialty orthopaedic EHR he designed in conjunction with other orthopaedists and IT professionals.

Conference highlights
The three-day congress is an opportunity for government, health care and academia participants to meet leading scientists, engage in creative discussions and cultivate partnerships focused on the continued advancement of orthopaedic research. Aiming to promote the exchange of ideas, the global platform will include over 300 presentations covering cutting-edge technologies and new developments in the field. Keynote speakers include Dr. Cody Bunger of Denmark, Dr. Dietrich Schlenzka of Finland, Dr. Heinz Winkler of Austria, Dr. Ping Chung Leung of China and Dr. Zuoqin Yan of China. Demonstrators and exhibitors at the event will be showcasing leading electronic advances and the latest orthopaedic products.

Dr. Sachdev takes the stage
Among these presentations will be Dr. Sachdev’s symposium, Orthopaedic Stem Cell and Bone Tissue Engineering. Stem cell therapy in orthopaedics is a fast-growing area of interest with the potential to alter traditional methods of treatment. Using the patient’s own stem cells typically harvested from bone marrow, Dr. Sachdev himself has seen impressive results with this treatment process.

Dr. Sachdev will also be headlining a discussion on the emerging use of orthobiologics in orthopaedics. According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, orthobiologics are created with natural matter found in the body. Used in repairing broken bones and injured muscles, tendons and ligaments, these substances can be used in high concentrations to speed up the healing of injuries. New developments in this process emerge each year, helping patients recover more quickly.

In addition to the premier conference, the program highlights a poster session, an industrial symposia, a session on the frontier science of orthopaedics and a young scientists forum. The event is hosted by Information Research Center of International Talents, SAFEA, an administrative agency of China. It will take place next week from Sept. 24-26 and is sure to produce exciting cutting-edge news in the orthopaedic field.
